The World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 has crowned its inaugural artistic swimming champions today, following the conclusion of the men’s and women’s solo technical events.

The women’s solo technical final was fiercely competitive, with all podium finishers delivering high-scoring performances.

World junior champion XU Huiyan (CHN) demonstrated her prowess in the senior category, securing gold in a commanding manner with a score of 272.9917.

Vasilina Khandoshka (NAA) redeemed herself after finishing fourth at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, earning silver with a score of 260.5416. Iris TIO CASAS (ESP) rounded out the podium with a score of 260.2917.

In the men’s solo technical final, seasoned artistic swimmer Aleksandr MALTSEV (NAB) achieved his first individual world title. The 30-year-old scored 251.7133 to clinch gold in a field of 13 competitors.

Dennis GONZALEZ BONEU (ESP) secured silver with a score of 241.1667, while Diego VILLALOBOS CARRILO (MEX) finished third with 238.1600.
Earlier today, the team free preliminary round commenced, with defending world champions China achieving the highest score of 338.2167.

Spain qualified in second place (329.4288) with the best artistic impression score of the day, while Japan secured third with 327.9186. Other teams in the top 12 include the United States of America, Mexico, and notably, a junior team from Chile.
The final is scheduled for tomorrow, 20 July.

The artistic swimming events will continue tomorrow at the World Aquatics Championships Arena. The day will kick off with the women’s solo free preliminary at 10am local time, followed by the team free final at 6.30pm.
