Neeraj Chopra dominates in Bengaluru with Best Throw Of 86.18m

Neeraj Chopra once again proved why he is India’s javelin superstar by clinching the gold medal at the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025, held at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

This event marked the first-ever international javelin competition in India named after the two-time Olympic medalist himself.

Amid extremely windy conditions, Neeraj delivered a remarkable best throw of 86.18 meters, reaffirming his global dominance and setting the highest mark of the tournament.

The competition saw fierce challenges from international athletes, with Kenya’s 2016 Olympic silver medalist Julius Yego securing the silver medal with a strong throw of 84.51 meters.

Just behind him, former Sri Lankan under-16 fast bowler Rumesh (also spelled Ramesh) Pathirage claimed the bronze with a throw of 84.34 meters.

India’s Sachin Yadav narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth with a best throw of 82.33 meters.

Neeraj’s victory was especially meaningful given that the competition bore his name.

Speaking after the win, he reflected on the emotional weight of the event, sharing, “Last few days have been hard for me. It also made me feel a bit weird that the competition is in my name. I am happy that I can keep the medal and trophy from the first edition at home.” The home crowd erupted in celebration as Neeraj stamped his authority on the event, not just as a competitor but as a living legend in the sport.

His dominant performance at this historic event highlights his continued excellence and sets a high standard for future editions of the NC Classic on home turf.
