2–3 minutes

Seventh seed Shintaro Mochizuki concluded Hynek Barton’s impressive journey at the 2025 Bengaluru Open by eliminating the Czech qualifier from the singles competition at the KSLTA Tennis Stadium on Friday. The 2019 junior Wimbledon Champion secured a victory over Barton with a score of 7-6(5), 6-3, thereby advancing to the semifinals, where he is set to face Australian James McCabe.

Competing on Centre Court, Mochizuki quickly established dominance by winning the opening game of the first set without conceding a point. He then earned two break points in the second game, but Barton managed to hold his serve. As the match progressed, the intensity heightened, culminating in Mochizuki winning the first set through a tie-break.

In the second set, Mochizuki broke Barton’s serve in the very first game and successfully defended against two break points in the subsequent game, as well as another in the fourth game. With a solid foundation established, the seventh seed concluded the match in one hour and 36 minutes.

Earlier, 21-year-old McCabe staged a comeback after losing the first set to defeat Colombia’s Nicolas Mejia with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in a quarter-final encounter that lasted two hours and 22 minutes. After dropping the initial set, McCabe rallied in the second, trading breaks with his opponent in the sixth and seventh games before seizing the crucial advantage in the tenth game. Gaining momentum, the young player saved three break points in the first game of the final set, broke Mejia in the sixth game, and ultimately secured the win.

Great Britain’s Billy Harris joined Mochizuki and McCabe in the semi-finals of the Bengaluru Open following a dramatic three-set victory over second seed Tristan Schoolkate. Harris, who entered the tournament as a lucky loser from qualifying, won the first set decisively at 6-2.

However, Schoolkate responded by taking the second set, thereby leveling the match. After losing his serve in the opening game of the final set, Harris rallied by breaking Schoolkate in the sixth game and ultimately clinched the match with a 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 scoreline.

In the final singles quarterfinal match, Brandon Holt emerged victorious with a score of 6-4, 6-4 against Petr Bar Biryukov (Q).

In the doubles competition, second seeds Blake Bayldon and Matthew Romios advanced to the final by defeating unseeded duo Siddhant Banthia and Parikshit Somani with a score of 6-3, 7-6(6). Despite a cautious beginning, the Australian pair capitalized on one of their three break points in the fourth game to establish an early advantage in the first set. The Indian team responded by winning game six and successfully saving a break point in game eight, but they were unable to regain the lead.

The second set featured a determined effort from Banthia and Somani, who saved a break point in the first game and matched their opponents point for point, leading to a tiebreaker.

Despite their valiant effort, they ultimately lost the tiebreaker 8-6. Bayldon and Romios are now set to compete against Anirudh Chandrasekar and Ray Ho for the doubles title at the Bengaluru Open 2025.

Earlier today, in the final semifinals doubles match, the duo of Anirudh Chandrasekar and Ray Ho triumphed over the pair of Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni with a score of 6-4, 2-6 (10-8).
