Bengaluru, February 26, 2025: The defending doubles champions, Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni, began their campaign at the 2025 Bengaluru Open with a straight-sets victory over the Italian duo of Jacopo Berrettini and Enrico Dalla Valle at the KSLTA Courts on Wednesday. Ramkumar and Myneni, who hold the record for the most doubles titles in the tournament with three—two of which they won together—defeated their opponents with a score of 6-3, 7-6(4) in one hour and 14 minutes, securing their place in the quarterfinals.

In pursuit of further success at the Bengaluru Open, Ramkumar and Myneni quickly established a 4-1 lead after breaking their opponents’ serve in the fourth game. They concluded the first set in less than 30 minutes but encountered significant resistance in the second set, as Berrettini and Dalla Valle managed to break the serve of the Indian pair in the sixth game. Nevertheless, the Indians responded by breaking back immediately and subsequently won the tiebreaker, finishing with a score of 6-3, 7-6(4).

Next, Ramkumar and Myneni will compete against Hynek Barton and Eric Vanshelboim, who triumphed over Johannes Ingildsen and Ivan Liutarevich with a score of 6-3, 1-6, 13-11 in the pre-quarterfinals.

In other doubles matches, the top-seeded duo of Anirudh Chandrasekar and Ray Ho secured a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Sai Karteek Reddy Ganta and Khumoyun Sultanov, advancing to the quarterfinals. The Indian-Taiwanese pair demonstrated exceptional teamwork and strategic play, achieving critical breaks in the ninth game of each set, ultimately concluding the match in one hour and 13 minutes.

Meanwhile, wild cards Adil Kalyanpur and Karan Singh staged a remarkable comeback after losing the first set to defeat fellow countrymen Nitin Kumar Sinha and Manish Sureshkumar in a thrilling three-set encounter. After suffering a 6-1 loss in the opening set, Adil and Karan responded with a 6-2 win in the second, leading to a tiebreaker. With the score tied at 4-4, they gained the advantage and finished strong with a 10-4 victory. Adil and Karan are set to face the second-seeded Australian pair of Blake Bayldon and Matthew Christopher Romios in their next match.

In Another match Indians Prajwal Dev & Aryan shah battle back to defeat Enzo Couacaud & Michael Geerts 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 from a set down to stealing the win in a high pressure super tiebreaker.

In the singles Round-of-16 matches, Billy Harris capitalized on his second opportunity, moving into the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Marek Gengel from Czechia.

Additionally, Australia’s James McCabe triumphed over Japan’s Rio Noguchi in a closely contested match, winning 7-6, 5-7, 7-6(5).

He will now compete against Nicolas Mejia in the quarterfinals, following Mejia’s straight-sets victory over Blake Ellis.
